WE BELIEVE . . .If you are asking, "How do I begin my walk with Jesus Christ?" then here is an answer: Recognize your need for the Lord. You are destined for a relationship with Him. Nothing else will fill the need in your life as Jesus will. Recognize, also, that you have drifted far away from God. This is true of all human beings. Nothing you can do will bridge that gap. Only God can do that. Admit this to God, with focused attention on Him (which we call prayer). Choose to accept and believe that Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, died on a cross and was raised from the dead. Choose to embrace the fact that He did this for you. With focused attention on God, through prayer, invite Jesus to become the center of your lifeyour attentions, your loyalties, your thoughts and your desires. Know with certainty that this decision WILL be honored by God. (In the Bible in the book of Romans, Chapter 10, verse 9, it says, ". . .If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Share your decision with a church pastor, or a church person. They will help you make that decision public in whatever way is customary for that church. For many, this will include the event of Christian baptismbeing immersed in or sprinkled with water as a sacrament signifying Gods gracious love in Jesus the Christ. Connect with a congregation and preferably with another Christian or small group of Christians, to get help on a daily walk with Christ, including prayer, Bible study and learning about Christian living. If First United Methodist Church can help you with this decision, please let us know. First United Methodist Church of West Plains, Missouri
